About

I have taught people from the age of 4 to 74, but I would say the best age to start learning is probably about 11. They can read English and their fingers are strong (and long) enough to tackle the instrument properly.
Lessons are generally half an hour, but one hour training is available if you wish.
Through the early Rock years Russ began performing live with guitar and vocals.
Joining heavy rock band MOBY DICK he began touring the pub circuit supporting acts such as Skyhooks, Little River Band and AC/DC.
The heavy rock scene made way for a long period in cabaret work with CASABLANCA during which time he established the popular ‘Zimsound Studios’ recording facility at Narre Warren.
While finding time to produce advertising jingles on television and radio Russ met with a dynamic vocalist and together formed ‘55 ALIVE’, one of Victoria’s top ‘50’s’ Rock ‘n Roll duos.
They featured on the Steve Vizard show, Hey Hey It’s Saturday and Ernie Sigley show. That band alone performed more than 700 times.
Learn to play music, its never too late..
Most people start out by seeing or just hearing their favourite music being played by a soloist or a band and decide "They look like they're having a great time - I'd love to be able to do that too".
So starts a fantastic journey - A journey of discovery, confusion, fun, frustration, and lots of hard work - but along the way they find they are actually starting to make/play music, bit by bit. Like learning to do anything, the good bit is - it can't get worse, it can only get better each time you try.
Naturally you want to be great from the first day you pick up the instrument. You soon learn it doesn't quite work that way. Just like learning Japanese or flying a plane we have to learn in little manageable bits and then put those new bits into PRACTICE - regularly.
With Guitar the styles of music I'm best able to help you to learn include: Pop, Rock, Blues, Country / Middle Of The Road and Children's Songs. For very young children (and the not so young) I can teach them to play (as they sing) the Ukulele.
