About

I have taught people from the age of 4  to 74, but I would say the best age to start learning is probably about 11. They can read English and their fingers are strong (and long) enough to tackle the  instrument properly.

Lessons are generally half an hour, but one hour training is available if you wish.

Through the early Rock years Russ began performing live with guitar and vocals.

Joining heavy rock band MOBY DICK he began touring the pub circuit supporting acts such as Skyhooks, Little River Band and AC/DC.

The heavy rock scene made way for a long period in cabaret work with CASABLANCA during which time he established the popular ‘Zimsound Studios’ recording facility at Narre Warren.

While finding time to produce advertising jingles on television and radio Russ met with a dynamic vocalist and together formed ‘55 ALIVE’, one of Victoria’s top ‘50’s’ Rock ‘n Roll duos.

They featured on the Steve Vizard show, Hey Hey It’s Saturday and Ernie Sigley show. That band alone performed more than 700 times.

Learn to play music, its never too late..

Lessons

Guitar lessons

As  a guitar teacher I believe the most important thing for a student to be able to do is have fun learning their instrument. I also believe the  quickest way to progress is to try playing along with a suitable song recording  from almost the first lesson.

At last count I have taught 380  different one on one private students - that's students, not lessons.

Ukelele lessons

Ukulele is the perfect instrument for little hands (like mine when I started), and for those wanting to have fun in a simple way while they sing along.

You can play any song on a Ukulele from INXS, Beatles and Ed Sheeran to mum and dad's favourites..

There are four sizes to choose from for the perfect fit.

Harmony singing

Singing harmony is a great skill to learn and is in the biggest demand of all.

There is nothing like hearing and singing perfect harmony.

Think Queen, or think a Barbershop quartet.

With regular exercises I can teach you to do it - and everybody can do it.

Making It All Work

When you start 'on-line' lessons for the first time you are entering a world free of all the old training problems you may have experienced before:
- Now you can stay at home for training. You don't have to travel .
- You can choose your lesson time to suit you.
- You can use your own favourite instrument and equipment.
- You can be practically anywhere in the world !

- You will need a computer of some type:
- It can be a desktop P.C. or APPLE, it can be a Lap-top P.C. or APPLE, or a tablet device such as an Apple Ipad.
- You will need: a reasonably good internet connection. For a reliable call you should have 25mbps or more. This can be
checked on either fast.com, or speedtest.net
- You will need a host installed in your computer -

I use and prefer 'ZOOM' as the sound and picture are known to be slightly better than on other hosts. If you prefer I can also offer training using 'SKYPE'. Both can be downloaded for free. Additionally for your phones or Ipads I can work with Facetime, Facebook and Whatsap.
- You will need a comfortable space in your home with your computer or pad device located just above your eye level if possible.
- You will need your space to be reasonably well lit and hopefully away from too much background noise.
- You may choose to use headphones which will make the sound clearer.
- You should have paper and a pencil for making your own notes.

When you have these things in place you are ready to start enjoying my on-line training 'person to person' in these music related subjects e.g.:
- Guitar
- Bass
- Ukulele
- Songwriting
- Garage  Band , Studio One and home recording

.... And I look forward to seeing and speaking with you soon.
