The First Note

As  a guitar teacher I believe the most important thing for a student to be  able to do is have fun learning their instrument. I also believe the  quickest way to progress is to try playing along with a song recording  from almost the first lesson.

At last count I have taught 380  different 'one on one' private students - that's students, not lessons.

You're The Voice !

Many guitar students don't want to sing anymore, but if I find one who likes to sing a bit then I'll be sure to encourage them every step of the way (and I can help them with harmony as well if they want).

Time, practise and patience are the keys - with the right training exercises - you can do it.

The Future Sounds Good

I teach people of all ages both from my Teaching / Recording home studio,  and also on the road - visiting the students in their homes. Lessons in my facility are generally half an hour, while students' home lessons are usually one  hour as there may be some teaching items to be set up .

I have taught people from the age of 4  to 74, but I  would say the best age to start learning guitar is probably about 13 (  but I will start from 11 years) - the brain is quick, they can read  English and their fingers are strong (and long) enough to tackle the  instrument properly.

Through the early Rock years Russ began performing live with guitar and vocals.

Joining heavy rock band ‘MOBY DICK’ he began touring the pub circuit supporting acts such as Skyhooks, Little River Band and AC/DC. The heavy rock scene made way for a long period in cabaret work with “CASABLANCA” during which time he established the popular ‘Zimsound Studios’ recording facility at Narre Warren.

While finding time to produce advertising jingles on television and radio Russ met with a dynamic vocalist and together formed ‘55 ALIVE’, one of Victoria’s top ‘50’s’ Rock ‘n Roll duos. They featured on the Steve Vizard show, Hey Hey It’s Saturday and Ernie Sigley show. That band alone performed more than 700 times.

I’d love to hear from you!

"I was quite nervous to call a personal service by phone but I'm so glad I did.

Russ has been a great teacher for me. Now I am starting to use my own ideas into my songwriting."

"Ben, our oldest has started Ukulele this year and loves it. At this rate we'll be shopping for a guitar soon !"
